Harland and Wolff partnership grows with commercial vehicle delivery

Briggs Equipment’s partnership with shipbuilding and engineering giant Harland and Wolff was strengthened further this week with the delivery of 7 bespoke light goods vehicles and 4 forklifts for some of their teams in England and Scotland.

The order of Ford Transit vans, Toyota Hilux pickups and Hyster forklifts comes on the back of a recent agreement for Briggs to supply Harland and Wolff with powered access equipment and fork trucks in Belfast. This has been further complemented by a range of welfare units and plant machinery supplied by Balloo Hire, a Briggs Group company.

Colin McNeely, Director of Briggs Equipment Ireland, said: “We are delighted to have this long-term partnership with Harland and Wolff, a name synonymous with Northern Irish industry. It’s fantastic to see their famous shipyard so busy and long may it continue.

“Their working operations demand tough, reliable machinery and we are able to provide that. A huge amount of work has gone into delivering the most comprehensive package possible. We always work with our customers to provide solutions tailored to their needs.”

Alan Blair, Business Development Manager at Briggs Equipment, added: “We have been working closely with Harland and Wolff on their projects in Belfast, supplying powered access and materials handling equipment. This collaboration has been further strengthened with recent large projects such as the SeaRose FPSO refurbishment.

“When Natasha Brown [H&W Group Procurement Director] asked me to source light goods vehicles and forklifts for some of their premises in GB, we were delighted to support. Although commercial vehicle hire is a new venture for Briggs in NI, we were supported by our colleagues at GPT, who have been hiring commercial vehicles for some time.

“The request we received was for large panel vans, crew cab pickups and drop-side vehicles with particular specifications and H&W artwork. Ward at 4 Corners in Lisburn added the livery to the vehicles, which I think looks amazing.

“As Briggs Equipment UK Ltd has many depots in GB, we can offer service and maintenance of our forklifts with our own Briggs Equipment engineers, and vehicles by the local dealerships.

“I would like to thank Natasha, not only for the level of business we enjoy at the Belfast shipyards, but also for Harland and Wolff putting their trust in us to deliver what they need time and again.”

If you think Briggs Equipment and your company might be a good fit together then we would love to hear from you! Our friendly team are always on hand to answer any questions you may have!
