Universal Flexible Packaging (UFP) was founded in 1995 and is well established as the UK’s foremost contract packaging/co-packing specialists. Operating from two sites in Leicester, UFP provides packaging solutions to some of the nation’s most well-known food and confectionary brands.
As an existing customer UFP had a fleet of 11 Hyster trucks, which were due for renewal in 2020. Since the start of the partnership, Briggs has worked closely with the Operations Team to make sure they’re getting the most out of their equipment. To help achieve this goal, UFP have used the BE Portal fleet management software to great success. This has helped provide a detailed insight into key performance metrics without the significant workload that would usually be required to achieve this level of reporting.
The performance of the Hyster products as well as the service provided by the Briggs team, led to UFP choosing to continue their partnership with Briggs and upgrade their existing machines across both of their sites with a new fleet of Hyster trucks.
A key aspect of Briggs Equipment’s service is being able to identify areas that will help improve safety, efficiency and productivity for customers. In this case, one of the small changes made to the fleet was the decision to standardise all of the trucks to a 3-wheel electric configuration. Whilst this may seem like a minor detail, it helps provide consistency and familiarity to those drivers who operate multiple machines in a single shift.
There has also been several safety attachments included on the new fleet, including continuous monitoring cameras, which provide the driver with a full view of the operating area and any potential obstacles or hazards.
The new fleet is a mixture of Hyster’s latest counterbalance forklifts, reach trucks and power pallet trucks and are split between the two sites in Lundsford Road and Lewisher Road. UFP will continue to make use of the BE Portal fleet management software, allowing them to accurately track the equipment’s performance.
The new trucks have fitted in seamlessly to UFP’s operations and the feedback from on-site staff has been extremely positive since delivery.
