Briggs Equipment provides flexibility for RAMCO

RAMCO Tubular Services, the major player in tubular management services, recently took delivery of a fleet of Hyster high-capacity forklift trucks for its OCTG facility in Portlethen, Aberdeen. The trucks, which are supplied and serviced by Briggs Equipment, feature the latest in forklift truck technology for improved productivity, efficiency and low running costs.

The new fleet comprises three Hyster 16-18T heavy duty trucks, a 7T and a 3T compact model, and a front loader JCB, which have been chosen to exactly match RAMCO’s demanding operational needs. In addition to the many benefits the new models will bring to the business, the increased lifting capacity will result in fewer movements in the 200,000 m2 facility, providing better productivity and reduced fuel costs.
Briggs were awarded the business based on their ability to offer flexibility within the contract allowing   RAMCO to adjust their needs in line with peaks in demand. It was also highlighted that unparalleled engineering support and the high specification of the equipment compared to others in the market were also deciding factors.

Commenting on the latest investment, Zak Fleming, Operations Director said “We are keeping a focus on efficiency across all our processes to match cost, safety and operational improvements already in place. Not only are the new trucks effective, they are also more environmentally friendly through reduced emissions and improved fuel consumption. Updating our fleet is part of our ongoing growth strategy and this is one of the many steps in investing in the future of the company.”

Colin Stewart, Key Account Manager, said “We were delighted to have secured this Long Term Rental Contract with RAMCO. We have made the application safer and more enjoyable for the drivers by taking the time to understand their needs. We achieved this with various additions to the standard specification of the machines including front and rear cameras, automatic brake engagement when the operator leaves the seat and pipe stabilising attachments. The ergonomics and comfortable seating for the drivers has been well received.”

Iain Hunter, Yard Forman, added “The new fleet are a pleasure to work with, they have made our drivers’ working lives easier, in particular the added safety features, the reduction in carbon emissions and noise pollution will really make a difference.”

The forklift investment is on the back of an upgrade to the Norwegian fleet earlier this year and is one of a number RAMCO have made over the past 12 months.

Briggs Equipment UK works with a great many of its customers on this basis, helping businesses of all sizes in a range of industries to meet their business objectives.
