Briggs Equipment smashes their annual fundraising goal of £20,000 for Alzheimer’s Research UK within the first few months of partnership

Cannock based Briggs Equipment are renowned for their fundraising activities, and have supported a number of charities over recent years including The Teenage Cancer Trust, Newlife and now Alzheimer’s Research UK. Alzheimer’s Research UK is Briggs’ official charity partner for 2018-2019 and was voted for by staff. The partnership began in June, and by November staff had already smashed through the original £20,000 goal. Funds raised are now in excess of £21,500 with many more activities planned for well into 2019.

Staff have taken part in a wide variety of activities so far including; a car wash, bake sales, karting days, a 350 mile bike ride from Cumbernauld to Cannock, a sponsored chest wax and climbing Mount Snowdon in Wales.

Having received the most votes for a charity partnership ever, staff have been really engaged with Alzheimer’s Research UK and have taken great interest in learning more about the effects of dementia.

Money raised throughout the year will be used to help fund life-changing dementia research. Dementia is the leading cause of death in the UK, yet there are no treatments to slow, stop or prevent the diseases, like Alzheimer’s, that cause the condition – but research can change this.

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s largest dementia research charity dedicated to causes, diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure.

Pete Jones, Managing Director of Briggs Equipment UK said, “Our staff have always risen to the challenge of raising money for our charity partners, however this year they have excelled in their level of engagement.  Alzheimer’s Research UK has resonated with our employees and it is so pleasing that we are exceeding our target for such a worthwhile cause.”

Vicky Lake, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Alzheimer’s Research UK, said: “We are all absolutely thrilled by the fantastic support of everyone at Briggs Equipment. Their enthusiasm for our cause is second to none and we’re so grateful for all that they are doing. The money they’ve raised so far is going to make a huge difference in the search for a cure for dementia and we’re so excited to see what they go on to achieve over the next few months.”
